DIN stands for Deutsches institut fur Normung which is German Institute for Standardization founded in 1917 as NADI or Standardization committee of German Industry. The institute is responsible for the formulation and reorganization of standards for the industries in Germany.

The standards set by DIN are recognized all over the world. DIN represents Germany in the International standardization organization. The Standards set by DIN are used in various fields such as electronics, Paper and packaging, mechanical and automobile industries.
